Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalayam Provided With Water Facilities
Education

Event description

Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalayam is a national school which has been continuously used as a resettlement camp in the past. Most of the buildings and facilities were not maintained properly to accommodate the school children.

The school, which is supporting 3200 students including 980 primary school children, made every effort to obtain basic infrastructure in order to improve the drinking water facilities and provide a healthy and safe environment in the past without any success.

An appeal was submitted to Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation to provide assistance with building the basic infrastructure needs such as the construction of wells, water tanks, drinking water facilities and lawn for the ground.

Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation provided Rs 1,635,000 worth of assistance to Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalayam for the construction of wells, water tanks, drinking water facilities and lawn for the ground, which will enhance the drinking water facilities and provide a hygienic environment for the students of Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalayam.

The construction activities mentioned above commenced recently under the guidance of the Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalayam principal M.S. Pathmanathan and are expected to be completed in the near future.
