Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation resolved the sanitation problem of Jaffna Chankanai’s east village community with the donation of permanent toilets.
With the guidance of Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation founders Mr. Subaskaran Allirajah, Mrs. Gnanambigai Allirajah, Mrs.Prema Subaskaran and Lyca Group Deputy Chairman Mr. Prem Sivasamy, 37 Nos permanent toilets were constructed and donated to the resettled communities of East Chankanai at a ceremony held at the Jaffna Chankanai east village on July 17th 2015.
For the past several years, the resettled communities of Chankanai’s east village have lived in deplorable conditions without basic needs such as toilets. This most valuable contribution has ended open defecation, the contamination of food and water and has also changed the social status of this resettled community.
43 schoolchildren of the village were supported with cash grants which will improve their school attendance and ensure improved social status in the future.
The communities participated in a ceremony to thank Mr. Allirajah for this treasured donation and they look forward to continued support in the future.
