The recent water pollution crisis in the Valigamam Area is considered a serious health hazard. The residents of Chunnakam alleged that the crude oil leakage from a thermal power plant is the main cause for the pollution of the entire water bed which has polluted many wells in the area. Contamination has created a drinking water shortage in the Valigamam Area.
Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation distributed 5000 L of purified bottled water to the schools in the Valigamam area – J/Mahayana College, J/Union College, J/Nadeswara College, J/Nadeswara Kanista Vid, J/Meikandan M.V, J/Majilani M.V, J/Thirugnanasampanthar M.V, J/Saiva sanmarkkam M.V, J/Ellalai South A.M.T.M.S and J/Isithor R.C.T.M.S. The school students were the beneficiaries who were distributed with 5 L eater vans. The water distribution was made to communities living in the welfare centres, primary schools and hospitals.
The beneficiaries of the water distribution appreciated the Gnanam Foundation’s timely assistance which helped the Valigamam community to continue their day to day activities without any interruptions.
